The
Work It Out! approach can support the development of your staff in a wide range
of areas e.g, looking at efficiency, supporting poorer families, tackling
poverty, reducing staff numbers in a positive way, joining up services, etc.
This workshop encourages staff to take a fresh look at their own development in the light of local needs/priorities, developments within the Council and to reflect on their future career plans.
The
aims of the half day workshop are: Each session is tailored to your priorities. Example aims might include: 1.
To explore the challenges facing the Council over the next 12 months and to look at the opportunities that this creates for service delivery improvement,
efficiencies and staff development. 2. To equip individuals to positively address challenges of redundancy and uncertainty around re-structuring. 3.
To create new ways of responding to service priorities – at an individual, departmental and
organisational level. 4.
To encourage personal ownership and responsibility so that individuals are
enabled to become the drivers of new initiatives and improvements.
Staff can be encouraged to explore: - Their role – adding value / job satisfaction in the evolving structures / increasing contribution (How can I add greater value in what I do?) - Their department – re-appraisal of services / efficiencies / effectiveness / impact measures (How can our department become more effective?) - Their future – where does all of this fit in with my career? / future plans? (How can I manage my development in a positive way given all of the challenges?)
